Renovation IN France

I dont know if when you pop onto here to have a look at what I am writing it shows you that there is another blog which is covering the renovation of our home in Brittany France.
I is the story (in writing and pictures) of Mrs Bentley and my efforts to renovate and breathe new life into a house that had lain empty for 40 years and we are doing the vast majority of work ourselves.
I hope you like it and link to it.
Love and Peace

  1. On being a renovateur (je suis un builder)

Yee Haw was home to the homeless
Dreams morphed into plans that were scrutinised and passed
A friend was found whose knowledge was priceless
The renovatuer was confident that nothing would be missed
    And the omens were good

The bay tree added a surfeit of roots and aroma
until tamed by the tin barricade
ancient skills employed to move her beams
    sky-hook nearly removed her head
air turned blue with rich and robust phrases
but fortuitously no trip to the undertakers
but an understanding of the free lesson learnt
and the talk of the tool box is the precursor to the day's work
    And the omens were good

Walls up, roof on, 'lectrics sorted
    nifty nephew sorted the plaster
he's the anchor, she be the heart
wrought together 'twixt the crow's nest
    no fluke this building lark
might not be Ginger and Fred at the helm
But Billy and Gently purr along
    And the omens are great

  2. Another gem (greatly appreciated) from the anonymous poet although MrsB couldn't make up her mind if it is a little spooky or, as I think just good fun. We had some speculation as to who the mystery poet might be however I am content to read and enjoy them as "anon" MrsB who was keener to know the identity has also decided to just enjoy although she does have a guess now and then, but as I don't know and am not guessing, I don't know if she is right or not. either way I agree, the omens are great.
